Is Ego Me?
wanting to be heard?
What is it in my head
that won’t shut up?
Is that me...
or is that Ego?
Wait...
Is Ego me?
If not...
how do I stop the noise?
Why does life feel so heavy?
If Ego isn’t me... then what is Ego?
It seems Ego’s job throughout my life was to assist me in learning, solving, and protecting as I developed my sense of self. Little by little, I began wearing the tools I learned like armor, ensuring things look a certain way.
But whose way was it?
As I look back, this is where Ego-Pilot was born, begging the question, is Ego me? I was no longer living, but rather existing. Stuck in a mindset of shoulds, should nots, and I told you so’s. The noise had become unbearable. The weight of constantly feeling the need to protect what Ego-Pilot had become was wearing me down.
My soul longed to live free.
How Do I Live Free?
It seemed if I wanted to live free...
something had to go.
“The first half of life is devoted to forming a healthy ego, the second half is going inward and letting go of it.”
— Carl Jung
“In pursuit of Tao, every day something is dropped.”
— Tao Te Ching, Chapter 48
“The world belongs to those who let go.”
— Lao Tzu
To live free...Maybe it simply means letting go of things having to look a certain way.
Setting Sail
Here I stand.
Naked and full of life.
Now what?
That answer can’t be explained.
It can only be lived through navigating life—
meeting each moment exactly where it is,
no longer caught in the shoulds,
the should nots,
and the “I told you sos.”
Just... what if?
Navigating Life
Hi, I’m Jake, and this is River.
Whether you’re still exploring your relationship with Ego, have tried to let it go, or simply find yourself asking new questions, I’d like to offer my assistance as you continue walking your own path within.
Like many people, I believed ego was simply part of growing up. It seemed to help me learn, protect myself, and find my place in the world. At first, those qualities felt helpful. But somewhere along the way, the learning became armor. What once felt like protection slowly became a cage, holding me back from living authentically. That’s when I began wondering if the very thing I thought was helping me had quietly become the thing holding me back.
Finding your own authentic path, when the noise begins to settle, can feel incredibly vulnerable. In many ways, it’s like learning to walk again... or perhaps, learning to trust your own wings.
I don’t claim to have your answers. What I offer is my presence, another perspective, and a space where you can safely explore your own answers. My role isn’t to tell you who you are. It’s to reflect back what I see, allowing you to hear yourself more clearly, discover what resonates as true for you, and take your seat at the helm of your own creations.
If our paths happen to cross, it would be my honor to walk alongside you as you dive deeper into Self... the “I” in “I AM”.
